Dr Aminu Magashi Garba the coordinator of the Africa Health Budget Network (AHBN) has been nominated as Board Member (alternate) of the Partnership for Maternal, Newborn & Child Health (PMNCH) with effect from July 2019. The nomination was officially announced at the PMNCH’s 23rd Board meeting in The Hague, Netherland on 10th July 2019.

Dr Aminu Magashi Garba the coordinator of the Africa Health Budget Network (AHBN) has been nominated as Board Member (alternate) of the Partnership for Maternal, Newborn & Child Health (PMNCH) with effect from July 2019. The nomination was officially announced at the PMNCH’s 23rd Board meeting in The Hague, Netherlands on 10th July 2019.

The Africa Health Budget Network (AHBN) is a network of organizations and individuals using budget advocacy to improve health service delivery in Africa. AHBN’s main purpose is to advance and embed improvements in health budget allocation, spending, transparency, participation and accountability to increase overall health and wellbeing.

Aminu is a respected African civil society leader, advocate and a public health physician and a strong voice for accountability, transparency, quality of care, peace and justice. Through the AHBN, Aminu is a member of the Global Action Plan for SDG3 Civil Society Advisory Group and a Co-chair of the Global Financing Facility Civil Society Working Group on Health Financing and the West African Regional Coordinator and Member Steering Committee of the Community of Practitioners on Accountability and Social Action in Health (COPASAH).

Aminu was also a co-convener of the PMNCH’s Accountability Steering Objective Group from May 2016 – September 2018 and a member of the technical working group that planned and organized the 3rd UHC Financing Forum on the margin of the World Bank/IMF Spring Meetings in 2018. Aminu had an exciting and memorable 2 year tenure from January 2017 to December 2018 on the Global Financing Facility Investors Group representing civil society organizations.
