GFF EXPERIENCES

Sharing experiences with young people involved in the different GFF countries enabled him to strengthen his knowledge about the GFF and better engage in the GFF process in DRC. He remains convinced that young people, with their new energies and innovative capacities, are able to make a very meaningful contribution to the GFF process. However, he mentions "this can only be possible if countries involve young people in the design and implementation of the GFF strategies"

CHALLENGES

In the DRC, as everywhere else, COVID-19 has had a negative effect on resource mobilization, as the country is focused on other priorities. Despite this, young people are advocating at all levels to be included in GFF discussions. Youth face many challenges, such as in understanding the process, being included at national and provincial level, accessing information on the implementation and the real investment and results of the GFF.

For Bart, below are a few solutions to overcome these challenges:

  • Institutionalization at the highest level of the full participation of young people in the process of implementing the GFF in each country ;
  • monitoring and evaluation of GFF implementation process by young people in their respective countries ;
  • sharing information on GFF approach funding cycles with youth and civil society organizations in each country ;
  • establishment of a calendar for the evaluation meetings by youth organizations and civil society about the GFF process ;
  • strengthening youth capacity, in order to enable them to mobilize resources and carry out monitoring activities on the field.
